We're taking a major leap forward in simplifying global finance. That's why we're excited to announce the launch of Cross River's enhanced International Payments solution. This marks a significant addition to the wide range of available rails and a significant step forward in how we facilitate global money movement for our partners.

What’s new?

Cross River’s International Payments enables cross-border money movement through a combination of SWIFT network and local in-country payment rails. Through a robust correspondent banking network, our capabilities support outbound payments to 22 countries and in 9 currencies, with plans for rapid expansion.

Smarter technology for better performance

Like other Cross River rails, our International Payments solution delivers rail-agnostic payment technology to our customers. By intelligently routing transactions based on transaction size and currency requirements, we ensure flexibility, optimal speed, and cost-effectiveness. This means our partners don't need to navigate the complexities of a global payment ecosystem – we handle it all behind the scenes. Just connect to our proprietary and API-first core banking technology, COS, and enjoy the benefit of a fully integrated offering that supports features like subledgers, reconciliation, and real-time updates.

Current capabilities

Our initial release focuses on outbound payments with several core features:

  • 24/5 executable payment quotes with competitive FX rates
  • Multiple rail options including:
    • SWIFT network integration
    • Local in-country networks
    • Push to Account capabilities for direct bank deposits
    • Push-to-Card capabilities through Visa and Mastercard networks
  • Robust compliance framework with integrated BSA/AML controls
  • Real-time payment tracking from quote to delivery

For major currencies like Euro, GBP, and CAD, we're able to offer same-day delivery with guaranteed next-day options, significantly improving transaction times compared to traditional methods.

Integration for our existing partners

International Payments works with all your existing Cross River accounts – regular or subledgers. Best of all, if you’re already processing domestic payments with us, you’re essentially done. Whether you're using our API or platform interface, the implementation is low lift for any setup. You provide the payment information, and we handle the end-to-end processing.

The plug-and-play nature with all our rails means our partners can quickly expand their payment capabilities globally without significant technical overhead or forming relationships with correspondent banks.

This update isn't just about new features; it's about providing tangible benefits:

For our partners

  • Streamlined operations, reduced costs, and the ability to offer faster, more reliable international payments.

For developers

  • A robust and flexible API with webhooks and clear statuses, and comprehensive documentation.

For end user customers

  • Faster transaction times, competitive exchange rates, and greater transparency.

Looking ahead

This release is just the beginning. We're actively collecting feedback and prioritizing enhancements for future iterations. Our roadmap includes expanding currency coverage, adding inbound capabilities, and further optimizing our routing mechanisms for even greater efficiency.

We welcome the opportunity to discuss how International Payments might fit into your roadmap. Our team is available for integration consultations and to answer any specific questions about corridors, currencies, or technical specifications.
