Turn payment requests into instant cash flow with Request for Payment (RfP) functionality – powered by the RTP® network. Cross River, known for enabling fast payouts, will strengthen real-time payment capabilities to include instant pay-ins. Benefits

The RfP advantage to strengthen cash flow

Good funds, instantly

Enable deposits into your Cross River Operating System (COS) account 24/7/365 directly over RTP®, ensuring good funds are always available to support instant payouts whenever you need them.

Instant settlement

Receive funds immediately upon approval, transforming your cash flow management with real-time access to capital. We will deliver instant payment capabilities in both directions – enabling you to pay out fast and collect even faster.

Always-on processing

Continue receiving payments on weekends and holidays, ensuring businesses succeed beyond traditional banking hours.

Push payment model

Customers authorize every transaction explicitly, creating a secure environment that reduces fraud risk and builds trust — giving the same reliability Cross River brings to payouts.

Reduced payment failures

Precise payment information and explicit authorization dramatically minimize exceptions, saving operational resources.

Cross River has always excelled at moving money out fast. Now we're bringing that same speed and reliability to moving money in. Consumers deserve better than waiting days for payments. FAQs

How does RfP differ from traditional payment methods?

Unlike traditional methods that "pull" funds automatically, RfP operates on a "push payment model" where the payer explicitly authorizes each transaction, creating a more secure environment with no unexpected debits. This extends Cross River's payment expertise from instant payouts to secure, instant pay-ins.

Does Cross River support RfP on both RTP® and FedNow® networks?

Currently, Cross River’s RfP functionality is only available through The Clearing House’s RTP® network and is not supported on FedNow®.

Can partners enable RfP functionality for all their merchants at once?

No. Each merchant originating RfP through Cross River and The Clearing House (TCH) will have to be registered, reviewed and approved. What details from the RfP are shown to end users in the banking app?

An RfP includes the requested amount, who originated the request, and requested execution date.

How quickly are funds available after authorization?

Funds are available instantly upon authorization through the real-time payment networks, eliminating the traditional delays associated with ACH or check payments. Cross River's RfP solution delivers the same speed for collecting payments that we've always provided for sending them.
